Michael (Mike) Ward passed away June 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bellingham on July 28, 1950. Mike graduated from Cascade High School in 1968 and served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp. with an honorable discharge in 1976.

After serving in the military, he was Manager of the Everett Motor Movie until it closed in 1978. The majority of his working career was spent at the City of Everett. He retired in 2015, after 34 years of service, ending his career as the Maintenance Supervisor in the Utilities/Water Department.

Mike had a love for books and learning evident in his many interests and collections from antique tools to cookbooks, knives, and woodworking. Mike was good with his hands and had a precise attention to detail whether chopping wood, sharpening knives, or working on a project. He also had a passion for the outdoors, which included hiking and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife Kristie Guy of Marysville, WA; step-daughters Julie Guy (Scott Maichel) and Katie Walker (Todd); grandchildren: Cody and Wyatt; and sister Sharon McCollough.

No service will be held, but a celebration of life will be planned on July 29, 2017. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Providence Cancer Center.
